You can finally listen to CHVRCHES’ latest single, “Dead Air” in official recorded form — and not under the moniker of another male actor.
If you’ve been keeping up with CHVRCHES’ recent ventures, you’ll know that the electro-pop trio unveiled a new video for “Under the Tide”, as well as a new song titled “Richard Pryor” during a performance at Austin City Limits. However, due to the song’s changing title of various actors’ names, it was apparent that the label would eventually be replaced.
After the announcement for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1’s official soundtrack tracklist, CHVRCHES subsequently debuted the recorded version of their newest single.
Under the official title, “Dead Air”, Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty present a synth-infused tune that resonates influence from their breakout album, The Bones of What You Believe. With Mayberry as lead vocalist on this track, she sings of truth, lies, and an enduring fight: “I will never believe what they say / There is a strength in enduring”, “We hold up to an idea / And we’ll fight what we can’t see / We just hold up to an idea / We keep going till we can’t hear.” Under this theme, the song fits perfectly in the context of the forthcoming Hunger Games movie.
