Mineral is an emo band from Houston, Texas. After the bands formation, they moved to Austin where all four members were signed to Interscope Records on individual contracts. In 1997 the group disbanded while the members explored other musical projects including The Gloria Record, Pop Unknown, and Zookeeper. Mineral announced their reunion tour on April 24th, 2014, which included their Fun Fun Fun Fest set.
Mineral’s music is characterized by it’s soft structure and melodic vocals with ethereal guitar based bridges. Mineral’s music is well balanced between angst and heavy emotion within their lyrics. In 2010 they released a compilation CD of all the bands songs and was titled The Complete Collection.
All Music Guide stated, “When Mineral broke up in 1998, they had been together for only four years and released only two full-lengths, yet their shaping of the indie rock landscape cannot be overstated.”
