The third episode in the series of ZTV, starring Ziltoid the Omniscient, has been released by Devin Townsend.
Townsend is releasing a dual album entitled Z2: Sky Blue is the side done by The Devin Townsend Project, while Dark Matter is a follow-up to 2007’s concept album about Ziltoid the Omniscient. As part of his idea of mixed media, Townsend has been releasing the ZTV series with the individualistic puppet known as Ziltoid, and the third installment was made available today.
In part one, the background of the story is set up: Ziltoid is an alien in a society that values the collective, but he himself values the individual. He is tasked with infiltrating the population of planet Earth for the benefit of the collective, which needs a new planet since Ziltoidia is dying, but secretly desires celebrity for himself. Part two shows Ziltoid learning more about human culture, including Hawaiian shirts and “boobies,” and gains a pet named Herman.
The third part in the series shows Ziltoid closer than ever to infiltrating Earth, and he’s gained a new “pet,” a Poozer. He pinpoints humans’ love for music and tells the collective he plans to become the biggest musician in history, if the collective trusts him enough to let him continue his trek.
