Temple Of The Dog reunited over the weekend to perform for Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit Concert in Mountain View, California. Temple Of The Dog is the ‘90s supergroup collaboration of Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Mike McCready and frontman Eddie Vedder on vocals.
The Bridge School Benefit Concert is an all acoustic affair organized by Neil and Peggy Young to raise money for the school. Pearl Jam opened the set and played about seven songs before inviting Chris Cornell to the stage. During the Temple Of The Dog performance, the band played their 1991 chart topper “Hunger Strike. Temple Of The Dog formed in 1990 as a tribute to the late Andrew Wood. Wood was the lead singer of Mother Love Bone. The group released their self titled album one year later in April. Unfortunately for fans, that was the only album the group has released to date.
While performances by the group are rare, this is not the first time the group has done a reunion performance. The band performed reunion shows in 2003 and 2009. In addition, they assembled one last time in 2011 for the Pearl Jam Twenty Destination Weekend.
According to NME, in addition to Temple Of The Dog, other performers of the night included Florence And The Machine, Band Of Horses, Norah Jones, and Tom Jones.
