LISTEN: Soundgarden Releases New Song “Storm”

Soundgarden released a new song “Storm” today for fans to sample. The track was uploaded without any signs or warning and came as a pleasant surprise for many fans.

“Storm” was originally uploaded with a video attached. However, Soundgarden has since removed the video and uploaded an audio only version. While the initial appearance of the song was unexpected, even more surprises surfaced concerning the production of the song.

There is now speculation that “Storm” may actually be one of Soundgarden’s old songs from the 1980s that was produced by Jack Endino and never released. These speculations seem even more plausible following interviews with Jack Endino and Kim Thayil via Alternative Nation.

Thayil, Guitarist for Soundgarden, told Alternative Nation the following:
“There’s a song that recently we were doing with Jack Endino, we recorded it a few weeks or a month ago. That was from the mid 80’s, we actually recorded that potentially to use it in some form, maybe a soundtrack or something. We recorded it just to see how it would turn out, we haven’t really confirmed how it’ll be used, but it’ll probably end up on a compilation of some sort, and I’d imagine that would then be included on a B-sides album.”

However, the band has yet to officially confirm whether or not “Storm” is a re-recording of the song from the ‘80s.

During Endino’s interview with Alternative Nation he said the following:
“A few months ago they asked to me to record it with them, they needed a new song for a movie or TV or something, I’m not sure what it was for, but they thought it would be fun to see what we could do with it now”. He went on to say, “I don’t know what’s going to happen with the song, it may just end up as a B-side, but it was pretty cool working with them again, decades after we did Screaming Life”.
