MSTRKRFT, pronounced Master-Craft, is a Canadian electronic music duo from Toronto. They formed in 2005 by Jesse F. Keeler and Alex Puodziukas. The duo has been commissioned to remix songs by artist including Death From Above 1979, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Justice, Bloc Party, Ayumi Hamasaki, Matric, Wolfmother, Annie, and The Kills.
The first single they released together was titled “Easy Love,” and was released in 2006 on Last Gang Records. Their first LP, The Looks, was released shortly after in the United States and Britain. Puodziukas stated in an interview with Eye Weekly that the album would have sounds of “darker, underground disco and house with elements of American rock music.”
MSTRKRFT’s second and latest release, Fist of God, was released in 2009. All the songs were written by Keller and Puodziukas themselves. The album features guest appearances by John Legend, E-40, N.O.R.E., and Lil’ Mo, among others. They received positive reviews by publications including Spin, Rolling Stone, and Blender.
