The Vaselines @ Johnny Brenda’s 1/15

Indie rock legends, The Vaselines have just released their latest album. V for Vaselines is the band’s third studio album and it was released in the US on earlier this month on October 7th. In support of their newest work, The Vaselines are headed out on a pretty extensive tour that will see them traveling through much of Europe this November. Come January, it will be time for the North American leg of the tour, with things kicking off in DC on January 14th.

Just one day later, Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee will be here in Philly to promote their new album. They’re playing at the super intimate Johnny Brenda’s on January 15th, so definitely be sure to grab your tickets before it’s too late.

The Vaselines have been at the game for a while. Forming in 1986, they released their first album Dum- Dum in 1989. Shortly thereafter, the former lovers chose to disband, but they would reunite just a short time later in 1990, when they opened for Nirvana. In fact it was their associate with Nirvana that helped to bring exposure to the and, with lead singer Kurt Cobain once proclaiming that Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee were his “favorite songwriters in the whole world.”

It wasn’t until 2006 though that the band would perform together again. Then in 2010, they released their second studio album, Sex With an X. And now four years later, they’ve graced with another album, V for Vaselines.
