Sam Smith @ Liacouras Center 1/13

In just a short time, Sam Smith has become the biggest name in pop music. You can’t turn on the radio these days without hearing one of his songs, or featured appearances. And with good reason. Sam Smith is taking the US by storm with his lovesick lyrics and soulful melodies. And early next year, he’ll head out on a 16-stop tour of North America, hitting spots in the US and Canada. The tour will kick off in Atlanta on January 9th and finish up in Vancouver on February 4th.

And lucky us, we’ll get to see Sam Smith when he hits the stage in Philly on January 13th. Sam Smith is performing at the Liacouras Center, over on Temple’s Campus, which is quickly becoming the go-to spot for hot shows this season. Tickets go on sale this Friday, but do not sleep on this one because it is guaranteed to be a very popular event. If that’s not enough to satisfy your Sam Smith cravings, you can also catch him when he performs at this year’s Jingle Ball, hosted by Q102. That event also features Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, OneRepublic, and others.

Sam Smith’s upcoming tour is named after his mega-successful debut album, In the Lonely Hour. The album debuted at number 1 in the UK and number 2 on the Billboard 200 here in the US. We were lucky enough to hear a bit from the UK crooner back in March at SXSW. He was fabulous then, and his stage presence has presumably only gotten more captivating over these past few months of mainstream performances. His upcoming show at the Liacouras Center is a huge jump in terms of scope for the singer, considering his last performance here in Philly was at the much smaller Boot & Saddle. Not surprisingly, that show sold out. So we’re interested to see how sales do for his upcoming stadium performance. Grab your tickets this Friday and do not miss your chance to see the man who many are dubbing “The Male Adele.”
