Buzzcocks will be releasing their new album, The Way, on November 18, via 1-2-3-4 Go! Records.
This will be the band’s first album since 2006’s Flat-Pack Philosophy, and their ninth studio album overall. The Way will feature 10 tracks, written by co-founders Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle and produced by Buzzcocks with Dave M. Allen. The group has been around since 1976, but the new album demonstrates that they aren’t slowing down, with the same signature pop-punk they’ve been performing since the band formed.
The punk rock outfit crowdfunded the upcoming album at the beginning of 2014, using PledgeMusic. Within a week, they had met more than 60% of their total goal. They chose to crowdfund to speed up the process of making and releasing an album. Flat-Pack Philosophy supposedly took almost two years to get to fans, but it’s clear that the band taking matters into their own hands has sped the process up dramatically.
