WATCH: The Staves Release New Video For “Blood I Bleed”

The Staves’ latest music video tells a story (or a few) and takes us into India.

The Staves have just released the video for “Blood I Bleed.” The EP Blood I Bleed comes out on the 22nd of this month.

The song is a harmonic anthem, with undertones of melancholy but surges of power that coincide with the story-telling going on onscreen. The video gives us glimpses into the lives of many people, but it’s all very mysterious. As Stereogum puts it, “it’s just about impossible to figure out what all these people have to do with each other.” Nonetheless, the video is beautiful, rich with color and emotion. It’s chock full of imagery that holds plenty of meaning on its own, even if the over arching story is hard to decipher; it’s “ravishingly beautiful.”

A trio of sisters, the Staves hail from Britain and are an acoustic folk-rock band. They’ve been known for their ability to harmonize with perfect familial unison. The sisters began at open-mic nights at a local pub; one day a friend dubbed them The Staves and it stuck. They began to gain attention in the US during performances with The Civil Wars in January 2012. They have also performed at South by Southwest, and with Bon Iver on their 2012 tour. The band released their debut album in November of that year. As previously mentioned, their latest album will be out on the 22nd.
