Virginia shock rockers GWAR, once nominated for two Grammy awards, are about to do a noble thing – honor their lead singer and one of the founding members (last one as a part of the band, till his death in March 2014, later confirmed as heroin overdose) Dave Brockie in Los Angeles’ Keystone Gallery, lasting October 25th to Novemeber 6th.
A tribute to Dave and artists who created GWAR, officially called as ‘Don’t talk about it, DO IT!’, will be featured by Mike Bonner, Bob Gorman, Mark Harvey, Katherine Leatherwood, Matt Maguire, Chuck Varga, Colette Miller, Danielle Stampe, Melanie Mandl and other ‘very special guests’, as the event flyer says. The band itself is described by Keystone as:
“Inspired by sci-fi, spatter flicks and kung fu movies, everyone involved with GWAR embraced a do-it-yourself work ethic, working together to manifest a creative expression the likes of which the world had never seen.”
In order to visit a GWAR tribute, you need to RSVP at gwardoit@gmail.com. Don’t miss the tribute to the founding member of one of the most shocking bands of the entire epoch, there’ll be a lot to see at the Keystone.
