Chan Marshall, better known as indie-rock, singer songwriter and actress Cat Power, has canceled two upcoming shows via Facebook.
After ending a summer of music festivals and beginning a tour which included The Modern Sky Festival, a St Louis Benefit Concert, and rocking the Hollywood Bowl with the Pixies on September 29th, Power will miss shows in Boston and Toronto due to health issues.
This morning Cat turned to her Facebook page to inform her fans and apologize for having to cancel the two shows, but promised to make it up to them.
Marshall who has was originally found in 1994 opening for Liz Phair, after moving to New York due to the death of a boyfriend, the death of a close friend from AIDS and the prevalent use of heroin by the rest of her friends.
In September, Power was featured on the single “Wide Awake”, off of Tied to a Star, the latest album by J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr.
For those of you who may not be not familiar with how far Cat Power’s influence spans, in May, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam fame, performed a 32 song set in Brazil, which included a cover of one of her songs.
