BB King announced plans to cancel the eight remaining shows of his 2014 US tour. The 89-year-old performer decided to cancel after becoming ill following one of his shows at the House of Blues in Chicago early October.
“He was immediately evaluated by a doctor and diagnosed with dehydration and suffering from exhaustion whereby causing the eight remaining shows of his current tour to be cancelled” it states on BB Kings’ official website.
Although the cancellation of shows came as a shock, seeing the severity of his condition fans only hope that King is able to recover quickly.
“Mr. King is back home and feeling better. He wants to thank all of his fans and friends for their outpouring of love and concern” his representatives said in a statement.
Aside from King’s tour, a documentary about his life was released earlier this year. The documentary entitled, B.B. King: Life of Riley includes live recordings, unreleased material, and unique collaborations with King and other greats in the music industry.
