Three-piece punk rock group Liars have launched a new video for their new single “I’m No Gold,” a track taken from their newest record, Mess.
Liars have undergone several lineup changes since their beginnings in the early 2000s, and this recent incarnation has found itself entrenched in a wall of electro-punk. The recent video for the single “I’m No Gold,” which is the second single released since the video for “Pro Anti Anti”, and the third single released overall, features lead vocalist and guitarist Angus Andrew standing solitary in the middle of the screen, rotating like a vertical rotisserie chicken. The video is comprised of several spliced shots of Andrew making various faces, standing stoic, and thrashing about like a child who didn’t get their favorite candy when they went grocery shopping with mom and dad. The controlled chaos that Andrew expresses in the video pairs well with the lyrical and musical content of the song, and seeing all of the facial expressions of Angus Andrew splicing on and off his face is both spooky and entertaining at the same time.
Mess released March 2014 and has been called “organized chaos at its most entrancing” by Spin magazine. The video for “I’m No Gold” can be found just below here.
