Rancid’s latest album, …Honor Is All We Know, will be released on October 27 via Hellcat/Epitaph Records.
The forthcoming album is Rancid’s eighth studio album and the follow-up to 2009’s Let the Dominoes Fall. The new album was produced by Brett Gurewitz, the CEO of Epitaph and guitarist for Bad Religion. …Honor Is All We Know has been described as sounding natural and organic, which seem like odd descriptions for a punk album, but the band has been together since 1991 and it makes sense that making music together would flow in a natural way.
Even though they haven’t released a new album in five years, Rancid has still been working together in the interim. In 2010, after the release of Let the Dominoes Fall, the band made an odd move: they released music video for “Rattlesnake,” a track from their self-titled album in 2000. A month later they pulled the same stunt, posting a video for another old song, “Blackhawk Down.”
They later played Riot Fest Chicago in 2013, following fellow legend Blondie. The most recent news attached to the band has been lead vocalist Tim Armstrong’s artwork. Armstrong held his first solo art show, Avenues & Alleyways, in January 2014 at Los Angeles art gallery SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS.
Rancid’s upcoming album has 14 new tracks and is sure to please fans of the genre. They may be getting older, but that doesn’t mean they don’t make the same kind of energetic, fast-paced music that they did in the past.
