The Melvins have released a new song, “Sesame Street Meat”. The song is one of the tracks from their new album Hold It In, which is set for release on October 14 via Ipecac Recordings.
In a press release the song is described saying, “Fans will surely devour “Sesame Street Meat” which nods to the band’s Gluey Porch Treatments debut, and encapsulates their great-humored, gut-wrenching, riff-centric formula, which has continued to evolve with each release.”
The making of the new album is a collaboration between The Melvins’ Paris Buzz Osborne and Dale Cover in conjunction with Butthole Surfers’ JD Pinkus and Paul Leary. In anticipation for the album, about a month ago, the Melvins released “Bride of Crankenstein”, the opening track for Hold It in. Additionally, a stream of “Brass Cupcakes” from the album was also released.
In relation to “Sesame Street Meat”, Melvins band member Dale Cover comments, “This track is one of the first songs we recorded together. I love Jeff’s slinky little bass line that comes in around the 3rd measure! Then the whole band kicks in and just crushes you like a bug! One of my faves! I can’t wait to play it live!”
Besides the release of the new album, The Melvins have a U.S. tour scheduled to start on October 15 in Sacramento. The full schedule for the Melvins tour date can be found here.
