The Norwegian electronic music group Röyksopp have announced their final album.
Röyksopp, made up of the duo Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland, have said that their fifth studio album, The Inevitable End, will be just that- the end.
The band offered a new remix of their past collaboration with Robyn, which they say will be the opening to the new album. Earlier this summer, they released the video for “Do It Again,” also with Robyn.
Berge and Brundtland released the following statement regarding their final album:
With The Inevitable End we’ve moved into a darker subject matter, with emphasis on the lyrical content. This candid approach feels very both personal, sincere and conclusive… With this album it became clear we wanted to make an album in a classical sense even if it’s the last one we make … We feel like this is a goodbye to the traditional album format. In our consecutive run of albums, we have been able to say what we want to say and do what we want to do with the LP. We’re not going to stop making music, but the album format as such, this is the last thing from us.
It’s on a hopeful note they leave us- this isn’t the end of their music making career, so we look forward to their next endeavors. The album comes out November 11 via Interscope/Cherrytree Records. Check out the full tracklist below.
