Death metal band Cannibal Corpse has just confirmed the release date for their upcoming thirteenth studio album. A Skeletal Domain, which is their first studio release since 2012’s Torture, is also their third record released featuring the production talents of Erik Rutan.
Cannibal Corpse has been a figure in the death metal scene for twenty-six years, recording twelve studio records, one live record, two massive box sets and four video records. Both their extensive catalog and their longevity are quite impressive when realizing that the band have been banned from releasing records in both Australia and Germany, and have been the subject of controversy here in the states on several occasions. Despite the controversy, Cannibal Corpse continues to plow through each relentless record with an atomic blast of bone-shattering music and, in the case of this new album, lyrics that evoke gore in a way never heard in all of death metal before.
A Skeletal Domain, which has been called a “massive, belligerent, and deliberate aural assault” by Earsplit, will be available on September 16. The band is also currently working on their official biography written by Joel McIver, who has also penned biographies on Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Slayer.
