Brooklyn’s TV on the Radio was formed in 2001. Since its founding the indie rock band has undergone several line up changes. Currently the band is comprised of Tunde Adebimpe (vocals) Kyp Malone (vocals, guitar, bass, synthesizer, strings), David Andrew Sitek (programmer, guitar, sampler, bass, synthesizer, horns) and Jaleel Bunton (drums, guitar, organ, synthesizer, bass, programmer, strings). Adebimpe, Sitek, Malone and Bunton are all longstanding members, but dozens of other artists have lent their talents to TV on the Radio. This includes David Bowie, Nick Zinner, Peter Murphy, Trent Reznor, Kazu Makino, Martin Perna, Katrina Ford, David Bergander, Eleanor Norton and a dozen or so other artists. Gerard Smith (piano, bass, organ, vocals, guitar, sitar) was also a member of the band before passing away in 2011.
The band released its debut album OK Calculator in 2002. It was followed up by Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes in 2004. Two years later the band released Return to Cookie Mountain. Two years after that Dear Science was released. In 2009 the band announced a year long hiatus. In 2011 Nine Types of Light was released. The band announced another hiatus the same year. The band’s most recent record Seeds came out in 2014. They have also released the EPs Young Liars (2003), Staring at the Sun (2004), Live Sessions (2007), Live at Amoeba Music (2007) and Read Silence (2009).
