Eugene Hütz (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion), Sergey Ryabtsev (violin, backing vocals), Elizabeth Sun (percussion, backing vocals, dance, general performance), Thomas “Tommy T” Gobena (bass, backing vocals), Pedro Erazo (percussion, MC), Oliver Charles (drums), Michael Ward (guitar, backing vocals) and Pasha Newmer (accordion, backing vocals) form the current line up of the gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello. Pamela Racine, Karl Alvarez, Yuri Lemeshev, Ori Kaplan and many others played in the band since it was formed in 1999. The band was named for the Russian author Nikolai Gogol. Hütz combined his last name with the italian word for brothel. The band went on to released eight albums as well as several EPs and complications.
Their debut Voi-La Intruder (1999) was released off of Rubric Records. The band stayed with the label for their next record Multi Kontra Culti vs. Irony (2002), but switched to SideOneDummy Records for Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike (2005), Super Taranta! (2007) and Live from Axis Mundi (2009). American Recordings released Trans-Continental Hustle (2010) and ATO released Pura Vida Conspiracy (2013). The band also released Моя Цыганиада [My Tsyganiada] (2001).
