LISTEN: Karen O Releases New Song “Day Go By”

After almost fifteen years as the front woman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O will release her debut solo album Crush Songs next week. She penned the lyrics for the album which she described as “the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade” (according to the press release) back when she was 27. Years later, they are finally being heard for the first time at listening parties in fans’  living rooms that she began playing last week. For the rest of us, she has unveiled another new track off the album called “Day Go By.”

Following the release of the album’s first single “Rapt” earlier in the summer comes the latest lo-fi track off the forthcoming album. The track premiered via Urban Outfitters along with Karen O’s handwritten lyrics. The track is another chapter of the restless love letter album to come, full of nostalgia for faded love set to a simple guitar strum and her caressing voice.

Crush Songs is due out September 9th via Julain Casablancas’ Cult Records label. Karen O will celebrate the release with four small venue gigs in New York and three more shows in Los Angeles.
