Due to recent controversy, singer Cee Lo Green’s unscripted TBS show “The Good Life” has been cancelled by the network.
The series only ran for one season and ended in June with a total of six episodes. It was a reality show focused on Green’s professional life juggling producing, performing and recording. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the cancellation.
The controversy in which Green, who is also a coach on NBC’s “The Voice,” is embroiled involves statements he tweeted about the nature of rape. He has since deleted the tweets, but they read, “If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! So WITH implies consent. People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!”
This isn’t even Green’s first controversy: he faced charges of sexual assault in 2012 and pleaded no contest in August 2014 to a felony count of furnishing ecstasy to a woman. Women’s rights group UltraViolet petitioned TBS to cancel the show, and the network did so soon after, though they still claim the decision was based on ratings alone.
