Grammy-nominated guitarist virtuoso Stanley Jordan has returned with his first new original composition in 14 years entitled “Flight Of The Eagle.” The groovy new single provides a taste of what fans can expect from Jordan’s forthcoming album Feather in the Wind which is expected to arrive later this year.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Jordan offered, “In this year of the 250th anniversary of America I thought it would be fitting to celebrate through song the majesty of our national bird. The eagle is also a unifying symbol because it’s sacred in Native American culture, flying higher than any other bird, carrying our prayers up to the Heavens and bringing blessings and gifts back to the earth.”
Jordan praised the joint effort of recording “Flight Of The Eagle,” specifically naming Kenwood Dennard, Delmar Brown, and T.M. Stevens as a “dream team band.” He went on to lament the fact that the latter two artists have since passed away but honored their memory by deeming their collaboration on the track “a career highlight.”
Touching upon his Grammy history, Jordan was nominated for four awards throughout the 80s, 90s and 2000s for his work on his debut studio album Magic Touch, the 1991 single “What’s Goin’ On” and his aughts classic “Steppin’ Out.” He is currently on tour in the U.S. from now through December and will be making stops in Virginia, New York, Tennessee, Maryland, Washington, Delaware, New Jersey and North Carolina.
