Phillip Phillip’s is an American singer-songwriter who won the eleventh season of American Idol in 2012. His coronation song “Home,” became the best selling of all coronation songs. His debut album, The World from the Side of the Moon, was released later that year. His follow up album, Behind the Light, was released two years later in 2014.
Philips started playing music when he was 14 years old. He was mentored by his brother-in-law, Benjamin Neil, whom Phillips credits for inspiring his interest in music. In 2009, Phillip Phillips started performing at small venues and events. He won a local singing competition “Albany Star,” in 2010. Phillips musical influences include Mumford & Sons, Dave Matthews, John Butler, and Damien Rice. He stated that his music has a “jazz and rock alternative sound.”
Phillips latest album, Behind the Light, released on May 19, 2014. His debut single off of the album was titled “Raging Fire.” The follow up single was titled “Fly.” The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at number seven, and sold over 103,000 copies in the U.S. alone.
