Fox Creates New Sitcom Inspired By Rivers Cuomo’s College Experience

A sitcom inspired by Rivers Cuomo of the American Rock band Weezer and his life at Harvard is in the works.

Fox recently announced that it has given the sitcom called DeTour a put-pilot order, meaning that there is still a small chance that the show might not air, but Fox has a good deal of confidence in it, considering they would have to pay a large fee to not air the pilot.

Although the star of the series would be a fictional character, the show will take from Cuomo’s experience at Harvard University. Cuomo studied intermittently there for eleven years.

Cuomo himself is actually involved in the show, which is coming from the creator of the popular TV series Psych, Steve Franks. The show will be about a famous rock star in his thirties who he recedes from the spotlight to participate in parts of life he feels he has missed while he was wrapped up in becoming a famous musician. It will be an embellishment of the singer’s real story.

Weezer’s album The Blue Album was released in 1994 and Cuomo started at Harvard one year after this. At first, he was a music major and has said in interviews that classes there influenced some of his pop songs. Cuomo switched to English Literature as his major and graduated in 2006.

The band has an album that is about to be released on September 30 called Everything Will Be Alright In The End. In July, they released a new song off the upcoming album called “Back to the Shack”.
