Spoon is a American rock band that formed right here in Austin, Texas! The band is composed of Britt Daniel (vocals, guitar), Jim Eno (drums), Rob Pope (bass guitar, guitar, keyboards, backup vocals), Eric Harvey (keyboard, guitar, percussion, backup vocals), and Alex Fischel (keyboard, guitar).

Spoon’s first recording was the vinyl release of their EP Nefarious, in May of 1994. In 1995, the band signed with Matador Records. Within year of their first release, they released their first full-length LP, Telephono, in 1996. Later in 1998, they signed to major label Elektra Records.

Spoon’s most well known works are “I Turn My Camera On” and “The Underdog.” “I Turn My Camera On” is off of their album, Gimme Fiction, which was released in 2005, and debuted at number 44 on the Billboard 200. The album sold more than 16,000 copies. The band took break in their music career in 2010 before releasing their most recent album. Spoon released, They Want My Soul, in early August. Under the Radar commented on the release of the album, “Despite the band’s four-year vacation, They Want My Soul doesn’t tread much fresh ground. Essentially, this is Spoon as Spoon has always been. While it’s sonically nothing new, what Spoon offers is still infinitely more polished than the work of any of their contemporaries.”
