Tegan and Sara are a Canadian indie rock/indie pop duo that formed in 1995. They are originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The musical duo is composed of identical twin sisters Tegan Quin and Sara Quin. The two are both musicians and songwriters who play the guitar and keyboards.
Tegan and Sara released their debut album, Under Feet Like Ours, independently in 1997. Neil Young’s manager signed the twins to Young Vapor Records and they released, This Business of Art through Vapor in 2000. They have toured extensively since then. In 2002, the duo released their third album, If It Was You. Their fourth album, So Jealous, followed two years later and led to their wide range of success. Their track “Walking with a Ghost” was covered by the The White Stripes, who later released it on their Walking with a Ghost EP.
Their most recent album is, Heartthrob, which was released just last year. The first single “Closer,” was released in 2012 and became their first single to make the Billboards Hot 100 chart. The album debuted on the Billboard top 200 at number three, the bands highest charting album to date, selling 49,000 copies in its first week.
