26-year-old Bob Dylan is back on the track! Or at least a box of lyrics, handwritten by him back in 1967, during the original Basement Tapes recordings, that was found recently.
Produced by T Bone Burnett, and featured by legends like Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens, Taylor Goldsmith, Jim James and Marcus Mumford, the whole thing has been transformed into a ‘Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes’ album, set for release November 11 via Electromagnetic Recordings/Harvest Records.
According to the press release, the album was recorded in March at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, where the artists and Burnett convened for two weeks to write and create music for a treasure trove of Bob Dylan’s recently discovered lyrics.
The record will be accompanied by a Showtime documentary titled ‘Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued’, released November 21, directed by Sam Jones who earlier made the Wilco documentary ‘I Am Trying To Break Your Heart.’
“What transpired during those two weeks was amazing for all of us,” Burnett said in a statement. “There was a deep well of generosity and support in the studio at all times, which reflected the tremendous trust and generosity shown by Bob in sharing these lyrics with us in the first place.”
