New York native Kevin Devine is known for his hyper-introspective, autobiographical and often political lyrics. The singer-songwriter is signed to Favorite Gentlemen. Before he was known for his solo work, Kevin Devine played in Miracle of 86 and Delusion. He attended Fordham University after growing up in Brooklyn and Staten Island.
His first record Circle Gets Square came out in 2002 off of Immigrant Sun Records. His next release Make the Clocks Move came out the following year off of Triple Crown Records. His EP Traveling the EU also came out in 2003. Split the Country, Split the Street was released in 2005. It was followed by the Buried by the Buzzzz EP in 2006.
That year Devine also signed to Capitol Records. Put Your Ghosts to Rest came out late that year. Shortly thereafter Devine was dropped from Capitol. In 2007 he released his 2007 Tour EP. Procrastinate! Music Traitors rereleased Put Your Ghosts To Rest in 2008. He released demos via MySpace until releasing his next record Brother’s Blood in mid-2008. His I Could Be With Anyone EP was released in late 2008. Two years later She Stayed As Steam EP came out. Devine released Between the Concrete and Clouds as well as his Kevin Devine/River City Extension split in 2011. Both Bulldozer and Bubblegum were released in 2013.
Devine also plays in the band Bad Books with Andy Hull of Manchester Orcestra. The group has released Bad Books and Bad Books II. In 2011 he released Nevermind, a Nirvana cover album.
