American Authors is an American rock band based in New York City. They are currently signed to The Island Def Jam Music Group, and are best known for their singles “Best Day of My Life” and “Believer” off of their debut album, Oh What a Life.

The members of American Authors met while attending the Berklee College of Music in 2007. They were originally known as The Blue Pages, and toured with Cash Cash on their Robots in High Tops Tour. In 2012, the group changed their name to American Authors and released their debut single “Believer.” Their second more popular single, “Best Day of My Life,” has been featured in Lowe’s television commercial, a Hyundai advertisement, trailer for Delivery Man, and the opening sequence for ESPN’s 2013 World Series of Poker coverage. By early 2013, the band had signed to Mercury Records.

In 2013, American Authors won Overall Grand Prize in the 18th Annual USA Songwriting Competition with their song “Believer.” When American Authors performs, they display the natural ‘it’ factor that leads to music’s most successful artists. Lead vocalist, Zac Barnett quotes,

“We’re the authors of our lives, creating music from what we’ve lived, from what we hope for, from what we feel. Every day is different and like everyone, our emotions change according to our personal highs and lows and by the challenges or triumphs that affect all of us. We’re not afraid to be goofy one day and serious the next. We just want to be true to ourselves and share our stories for as long as people are willing to listen.”
