Morrissey Not Dropped From Record Label

All the rumors that have been circling around former Smiths frontman Morrissey are apparently untrue. While the singer himself may not be happy with the label, Harvest has indicated that they still retain a two-album deal with Morrissey, putting the kibosh on recent rumors that Morrissey may be on the prowl for a new label.

As recently as a week ago, Harvest Records dropped Morrissey from their artist roster, leading many to believe that the label may have permanently dropped the artist. Morrissey himself has expressed his dissatisfaction with the label’s apparent disinterest in promoting the album or encouraging the artist to hold press interviews to support the album, yet Billboard has recently received a swift denial from the record label, indicating that it still holds a two-album deal with the artist.

While World Peace Is None Of Your Business, Morrissey’s tenth studio album, continues to receive some critical praise, Morrissey has been throwing daggers at Harvest on his online fanzine, True To You, citing his severe disappointment that the label is less interested in releasing a new music video for the album than his many fans, some of whom have already begun to post videos of singles off of the latest album:

The three individual sources are named as Sharon Jheeta, Hector Gonzalez, and wpeace123456. These videos fully understand the intent of the song, and I am relieved these films exist…In answer to many people who have asked, I should like to finally make it clear that I have not received any television invitations-worldwide!-to either discuss World Peace Is None Of Your Business, or even to sing any songs from the album.”

The album was released in late July this year. Harvest Records is a subsidiary of Capitol Records.
