Danny Carey To Play With Primus

Tool’s Danny Carey will be joining Primus on their September tour dates to fill in for the still recovering, Tim Alexander. Alexander hopes to return to active touring, following recent open-heart surgery, in October.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Primus frontman Les Claypool said, “The mighty Tim ‘Herb’ Alexander is a polyrhythmic Viking of extreme and unique talent so the one person that we thought could step into his shoes and do it justice is the one and only Mr. Danny Carey.”

He went on to say that he is looking forward to seeing Carey playing with the band, as he is a dear old friend. Claypool wagers the band collectively is interested in exploring what is present on a musical level. Or, in the words of the Primus frontman to Rolling Stone, “what kind of sounds are going to come out of the three of us once we actually get in a room together and do more than just consume fancy booze.”
