While on tour this summer, Arcade Fire has been dazzling audiences with a series of cover songs. On August 14th, they upped the ante when they released a video for the Reflektor song “You Already Know.” Although the band had quietly released this new video, it has made a big splash in under 24 hours with over 66,000+ views on the band’s official Vevo channel.
Filmed in a home video style, in a seaside suite, “You Already Know” features the band performing the song, while the videographer goes in to highlight each individual member of the group. There’s only one member that’s missing from the tight shots, Win Butler, the vocalist. Instead of seeing him on camera, viewers are treated to a little CGI magic involving portraits.
Where is Butler? Oh, he’s definitely in the video, just not where anyone had anticipated him to be.
Near the end of the video, Régine Chassagne brings a mirror to the foreground revealing that Bulter has been behind the camera as director and videographer.
