Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini has released a short film for his single, “Iron Sky.” The track is from his forthcoming album Caustic Love, out September 16.
The film, which is almost nine minutes long, was directed by Daniel Wolfe, whose first feature film recently debuted at Cannes Film Festival. The film leaves no room for lightheartedness, beginning immediately with a piercing, high-pitched noise that plays while we watch people silently “talk,” the captioning and their faces expressing the pain and misery they feel. A little past the two-minute mark, the music cuts in with a slow drum beat and guitar rhythm, then Nutini’s voice breaking out. The film never stops being heavy, featuring religious symbolism, images of addiction and the contrast between life and death.
Nutini will be touring North America in the fall in support of his new album. See below for full tour dates and ticket links.
