The Danish guitarist announced a September 29 release in Europe and an October 14 release in the U.S. on Bloodshot Records. While fans wait, Bjorklund released a new single previewing the new record.
Check out the song below, and expect more album details to be announced shortly.
The follow-up to 2011’s “Coming Home,” “Shaken” promises more cathartic songwriting and more of the unique melding of styles for which Bjorklund has come to be known.
Looking to exercise more stylistic experimentation, Bjorklund went with an entirely new band of established musicians for the new LP. Musicians backing up Bjorklund include members known for their work with Portishead, Sparklehorse, and a feature guest vocal appearance by Lambchop‘s Kurt Wagner.
The album’s lead single, “Missing at Sea,” embodies the melting pot of Bjorklund’s influences, unearthing everything from big, twangy guitars to psychedelic textures on a jazz backdrop. Interestingly for a lead single, the song has no vocals, instead taking full advantage of stellar instrumentation and arrangement for a provocative sound.
