Shakey Graves, aka Alejandro Rose-Garcia, is headed out on tour this fall. The tour is in support of his new album release, dropping this October. He’ll head to Philly later that month, on the 22nd, when he performs at World Cafe Live. Grab your tickets now and catch Shakey Graves when he performs at a great small venue.
The new album, And the War Came, drops on October 7th. He says, “The first album was me wanting to burn down my life, cut my hair off, and run screaming into the woods. This album is the trials and tribulations of becoming domesticated, letting people into your world and letting go of selfishness-the story of becoming a pair, losing that, and reconciling with the loss and gain of love.” We’re excited to see what he has planned. For a taste of the new album, check out “Dearly Departed,” the first single from And the War Came. The song, which features Esmé Patterson was written “as a big sex joke just to make each other laugh.”
Rose-Garcia has been performing under the moniker Shakey Graves since 2009, when he was working as an actor in Los Angeles. His background in theater provided just the training he needed to be successful as a solo musician, commanding the stage with every performance. He returned to Austin in 2010 and has been their hometown hero ever since, with his name frequently appearing on show bills. But it’s not just the Austin audience who’s attention he’s gained. Shakey Graves was named by NPR Music as one of 10 national artists listeners “should’ve known in 2012.” Don’t miss your chance to check him out when he comes to Philly this October!
