Just a few weekends ago J. Roddy Walston & The Business were rocking the stage at XPoNential Festival, and now they’ve announced their return to our area. They will be headed out on tour this fall with a stop in Philly in November. After a slew of festival appearances this summer/early fall, J. Roddy Walston & The Business will kick off their fall tour in September and make their way to Philly with a stop at The TLA on November 8th.
In addition to their summer festival gigs, with buzzed-about appearances at Lollapolooza and Bonnaroo, J. Roddy Walston & The Business were touring with Cage the Elephant and Foals this spring. It’s no surprise then that the band has come to be known for their live shows. The “Holler and Moan” tour sees J. Roddy Walston & The Business continuing to support their 2013 release, Essential Tremors. The album’s single “Heavy Bells” spent more than five consecutive months on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart.
The band was formed in 2002 by none other than J. Roddy Walston himself (along with Billy Gordon, Logan Davis, and Steve Colmus). They got their start in Tennessee, where Walston was exposed to gospel and country music. He sang in church and learned to play the piano and guitar from his grandmother. And he would eventually become known for his hard-hitting piano skills. Head to The TLA this November to catch J. Roddy Walston & The Business along with openers Fly Golden Eagle.
