James Vincent McMorrow is an Irish singer-songwriter. His debut album, Early in the Morning, was released in Ireland in early 2010. The album was released later in Europe and the United States in 2011. McMorrow’s TV debut was in the UK on BBC Two’s Later…with Jools Holland. In 2012, James Vincent McMorrow received an European Border Breakers Award in recognition of his album’s success beyond Ireland.
McMorrows debut album, Early in the morning, reached number one on the charts, went platinum, and picked up a Choice Music Prize Nomination after it’s release. McMorrow commented on his success of the album, “I’m so proud of that album, but I never longed to be a guy with a guitar. You play these songs live as best you can, and suddenly you’re a Folk musician. But the texture of this record is completely different. This is the kind of stuff I actually listen to.”
McMorrow’s follow up album, Post Tropical, was released in the beginning of this year. The album was produced with the intention of moving away from the indie folk sound like his debut, Early in the Morning. McMorrow’s, Post Tropical, moves towards a more soulful direction, with brass and strings, combined with hip-hop beats. The albums most popular single was “Caviler.”
