We’re gonna start this one with a non-sequitur. Wait, wait, never mind. It’s a segue disguised a non-sequitur. Good to be clear about these things.
Anyway, back in 1965, a Canadian band called “Chad Allen & the Expressions” (just writing that name made us want to punch our keyboards) charted their first hit, a cover song, “Shakin’ All Over”. Their label, hoping that audiences would assume that some A-list stars were behind the song – or possibly just disgusted with the band’s real name – decided to release the hit from a band they simply called “Guess Who?”. The name may or may not have worked. It did stick, mercifully, and we now know the band as The Guess Who.
Ethan Kath probably had entirely different motives when he decided to sign up for Lollapalooza under the name Kausea. But, on the other hand, it worked even better than the Guess Who? gambit. The high-profile mystery act caused rampant speculation on who lay behind the name, with guesses ranging from Zedd to Daft Punk.
Surprise! It’s actually Kath, producer for Canadian electronic stars Crystal Castles. The hirsute musician joins a high-powered pack of musicians on stage, and directly proceeds main attraction Skrillex.
