The Hold Steady @ Underground Arts 9/8

The Hold Steady were just in town this past weekend for XPoNential Festival and they have already announced a return trip to our city. And you don’t have to wait very long! This September you can catch the Hold Steady when they make their way to Underground Arts. Grab your tickets now to see them when they hit the stage on 9/8!

If you were at XPoNential Festival this past weekend you already know that The Hold Steady blew the crowd away the moment they stepped on the stage. Opening their set with “Constructive Summer,” a song title that fits well with their jam packed touring schedule, lead singer Craig Finn kept the energy going through their lengthy set. Mixing old standbys with new tracks from Teeth Dreams, The Hold Steady put a great third XPoNential performance.

The Hold Steady released their sixth studio album, Teeth Dreams, in March of this year. This was the band’s first album to feature guitarist Steve Selvidge, who joined them in 2010 when they toured in support of their album, Heaven is Whenever. When they wrapped up the 2010 tour, the band decided to take a 5 month hiatus. Then in 2012, they came back together to begin working on new material. For 2013’s Record Store Day, they released a limited edition single, “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” which featured lyrics written by George R. R. Martin. Of their latest release, the band has said, “We’re really proud of our new record. This is an exciting time for us. Making the new record has been a journey for the band, and the results exceeded even our own expectations.” See them perform material from that newest release when they play at Underground Arts this September.
