On July 16th, St. Vincent played on The Tonight Show with David Letterman’s Live at Letterman webcast series, according to Stereogum. In the series, artists play a full set of their music at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City.
St. Vincent proved that she is an all around entertainer from the moment she entered the venue with a ballerina-esque walk, and a modern dance performance, before launching into Rattlesnake, the first track off of her self titled album.
If the dancing didn’t get fans attention, soon St. Vincent’s guitar playing would. In this live performance, Annie Clark [St. Vincent’s given name] brings flash to her lead guitar parts and solos, showing that there’s so much more to her skillset than flamboyant costumes.
With a vocal delivery and intensity that is reminiscent of Sinéad O’Connor and costumes seemingly inspired by Björk, St. Vincent is one to watch – literally and figuratively – this year.
