London Grammar @ Electric Factory 11/8

London Grammar played a sold out show at Underground Arts back in October. Now they’re back and they’re headed to a much bigger stage. They’ll bring their fall tour to Philly with a stop at the Electric Factory. Catch them when they return to our area on November 8th!

They released their debut album, If You Wait, in September of last year. And have been riding high off the success ever since. The trio hails from London and is comprised of Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman, and Dot Major. Just a few days ago, the trio walked away with one of London’s prestigious songwriting awards. The received the Ivon Novello Award for Best Song Writing Musically and Lyrically for their track “Stronger.” Perhaps it’s their relative newness to the music industry, but the group was reportedly beaming with excitement over their win. Of their growing success, band member Dan Rothman said, “We’ve learnt a lot over the last year because we used to play in pubs, and then Hey Now came out and we were told it was time to play proper shows to 500 people and it’s been growing since then. The trick is to get the balance of the dynamic right: when it’s loud and big you want it to be louder and bigger, but when it’s soft and quiet you want it to be softer and quieter.” Head to the Electric Factory this November to see for yourself if London Grammar is getting that dynamic right!

Providing support for London Grammar when they arrive in Philly will be opener Until the Ribbon Breaks, aka Pete Lawrie Winfield. He debuted his first song “Pressure” around this time last year. The song was written “at a time of upheaval and transition” where, at times, it “felt like everything was  on the brink of falling apart completely.” In the video for the song, he uses his passion for film to combine the music with dramatic images.
