Been a while in the works, but Ex Hex is finally ready to drop their debut album. Rips is due out this October, promising twelve solid tracks of “unapologetic” rock n’ roll.

At the core of Ex Hex is Mary Timony, a longtime veteran of the post-punk scene. She’s been active since the early 90’s, though you might recognize her name best from her most recent project, Wild Flag. The short-lived indie group included an old bandmate of Timony’s from Helium, as well as a couple of Sleater-Kinney expats; they pumped out just one absurdly well-received album before hanging up the spurs. Sad to see them go, but Timony isn’t the type to stay idle for long…enter Ex Hex.
Timony’s partners in crime are Laura Harris and Betsy Wright. The three spent a whirlwind two weeks in the studio to record Rips, a sleek, quick n’ dirty piece of work from the sound of things. And, of course, new albums mean new tour dates. Check ’em out below, along with a song off the new release.
