Fresh off his recent win for Best New Artist at the BET Awards, August Alsina is headed out on his “Testimony Live” tour at the end of the summer. The tour will kick off in August in Seattle before making its way to Philly in September. Catch August Alsina when he performs at The TLA on September 10th!
The tour is named after Alsina’s debut LP Testimony which dropped in April of this year. The album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard charts. Most recently, August Alsina was the recipient of the BET Award for Best New Artist. He kicked off the night’s award ceremony, tearfully thanking his fans. He said, “I represent the struggle. This award is not for me, it’s for the people.” He also walked away with the Viewer’s Choice Award, but that time he vowed not to cry.
August Alsina grew up in New Orleans and was inspired to sing by Lauryn Hill’s performance in Sister Act 2. He started uploading videos to YouTube in 2007. He relocated to Atlanta in 2011 to focus on his music career after a series of family issues. He released his first mixtape in 2012. And this year he was named part of XXL‘s Freshmen Class.
