Allen Stone is a soul musician from Chewelah, Washington. He is classified as soul and R&B, and identifies himself as a “hippie with soul.” Stones musical influences include Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Meters, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, and James Morrison. The New York Times compared his socially conscious music to the likes of Donny Hathaway, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye, some of Stone’s musical influences.
Stone started performing in small backyard gatherings, and small community events. At the age of 24, Stone emerges himself into the world to share personal melodies that tell his stories of life. His rise to fame started when he began performing at his father’s church in small town America. It wasn’t until later when he started to write and play soul music influenced from the style of the 60’s and 70’s/ This music ignited a passion within Stone, and led him to his new musical home in soul/R&B.
Stone’s self titled album peaked at the number two spot on the Soul/R&B charts on iTunes and hit number nine and 35 on the Billboard Heatseekers and R&B/Hip Hop Album charts respectively. USA Today called Allen Stone a ‘pitch-perfect powerhouse.”
