Following the BET Awards ceremony on June 29, violence broke out at a few of the after parties. One of these incidents resulted in a death.
According to CBS News, Lavell L. Smith, 33 was shot and killed during a pre-show party in East Hollywood. Four others were also injured. The shooting occurred at Monalizza Resturant and Banquet Hall.
The previous night a stabbing was reported. This incident happened inside Lure Nightclub. Those in the club were there for a BET pre show party. The man who was stabbed was taken to the hospital, but no arrests have been made.
TMZ also reported on another shooting happening after the awards show outside of Hollywood’s Supper Club. However, reports on what exactly happened and who was being targeted are unclear.
These are all developing stories and the authorities are working to figure out exactly what prompted these acts of violence.
