Performances Stopped At Glastonbury Due To Electrical Storm

According to NME the third day of the five day music event was cut short around 5:35 during the Rudimental’s set on the main stage.

The crowd was informed by messages which appeared on the side-of-stagescreens that said a number of stages, including the Pyramid, were “powering down,” due to the burst of rain, hail, lightning and thunder.

The music festival which began the day after Jimmie Hendrix died in 1970, is scheduled to feature such acts as The Black Keys, De La Soul, Arcade Fire, Metallica, Jack White, Foster the People, Blondie, Massive Attack, Jurrasic 5, St. Vincent, Ellie Goulding, Interpol and many more.

The attendees were told by an official who came out on stage that they’d try to get things up and running again as soon as possible, but that it was “looking a bit iffy.”

After the sudden halt, Rudimental tweeted:

Thanks for an amazing experience #glasto unfortunately lightning struck the stage and we were forced to finish our set early.”

A live stream of the festival by the BBC has also been put on hold.
