Hey, if it works, it works. Tom Hiddleston has been tapped to play the lead role in I Saw the Light, an upcoming movie covering the life and times of Hank Williams, one of most illustrious musicians ever to grace the American canon.
That dapper cowboy right there is Hank Williams. An Alabama native, Williams rose to prominence in the late 1940’s and early 50’s on the back of a string of enormous hits, including “Lovesick Blues”, “My Bucket’s Got a Hole in It”, and “They’ll Never Take Her Love from Me”. His career was sadly cut short when he died in 1953 at the young age of 29, but he left behind one heck of a legacy. To call the man influential doesn’t really do him credit – you’re looking at one of the true fathers of modern American music.

Hiddleston’s recent work as Loki for the Thor and Avenger movie franchises have turned him into one of Hollywood’s golden boys, but there’s a much deeper portfolio behind the Marvel films. Hiddleston has appeared in rom-coms, war movies, and dramas, and has some theater roles to his credit as well. Anyhow, Williams now rests in his capable hands.
