Queen will begin a tour of North America, Asia and Australia at the end of this week, with Adam Lambert stepping in as frontman for the group. Not long after the tour wraps up, in September, the group will be releasing the rare recording of their 1974 concert at London’s The Rainbow, in various formats such as vinyl, CD and DVD.
Released September 9th, Queen: Live at The Rainbow ’74 will showcase a somewhat new-to-the-scene band that had just finished a supporting tour with headliners Mott the Hoople. Queen had just secured their first Top 10 hit with “Seven Seas of Rhye”, and their performance at The Rainbow would preview their hit later that year, “Killer Queen”.
There are also over a dozen songs featured on Queen: Live at the Rainbow ’74 that have never been featured on any official Queen live album before, as well as numerous goodies to be found in the various formats it will be released in.
