In a year of band reunions, here’s another one for you to add to the list. King Crimson haven’t been on tour since 2008, but this fall, they’ll be headed out for 18 US stops. They’ll be here in Philly for 2 dates on September 12th and 13th. Catch them at The Kimmel Center!
The prog-rock icons formed back in 1969 in the basement of London’s Fulham Palace Cafe. Over the years, the lineup has changed. This current iteration is their 8th and features Gavin Harrison, Bill Rieflin, Pat Mastelotto, Tony Levin, Mel Collins, Jakko Jakszyk, and Robert Fripp. Robert Fripp wrote about how different this version of the band was stating, “This is a very different reformation to what has gone before: seven players, four English and three American, with three drummers.” Head to The Kimmel to see how this incarnation of the band fares up. They’re sure to do a great job as each member has been a previous member or collaborator of the band.
Fripp announced last year that the band was reforming. He told us then that it would take a year or rehearsals before they were ready to perform together. And exactly one year later, they’re officially in “Go! mode.” There are several ticket packages available for the September event, including several VIP options, so head to the Kimmel’s site for more info.
